Government Releases 2 Minimum Wages for RS Workers

During an event in Arroio do Meio, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva revealed new support measures, highlighting the importance of guaranteeing resources and support for the reconstruction of damaged areas.

Announcement by President Lula

During his visit to the state, President Lula announced that the government will release 2 minimum wages (R$ 1,412.00 each parcel) for 434 thousand formal workers in Rio Grande do Sul.

The first parcel of this benefit must be released no later than July. To guarantee the necessary resources, the government will publish Provisional Measures in the coming days, ensuring an investment of approximately R$ 1 billion, which will be authorized in new extraordinary credit.

Who Will Benefit?

The beneficiaries of this contribution will be workers of companies located in areas effectively affected by disasters. More than:

  • 36 thousand interns

Conditions for Companies

Companies that receive benefits need to keep them employed for at least four months (two months during the receipt of benefits and more than two following months), without reducing salaries. The operation will be coordinated by the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE).

More than 49 municipalities in situations of calamity due to the climate disaster will receive an extra plot from the FPM, totaling more than R$ 124 million.

This measure aims to attend to the municipalities that have experienced a state of calamity recognized after the publication of MP nº 1223/2024. Including this, 96 municipalities will receive the extra plot, adding more than R$ 313 million destined to support the affected population.
